Lillie was born on September 25, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas to Jacob Palacios Sr. and Josephine (Abbate) Garcia. She grew up in Von Ormy, Texas, where she eventually met her husband, Pedro Ruiz. Lillie and her beloved husband were married for over 64 years and raised 8 children.
Lillie worked and raised all 8 children while her husband served on active duty in the US ARMY. They traveled the world with assignments in Germany, Panama and abroad. When Pedros military career ended, they decided to plant permanent roots in San Antonio. Her belief and faith never wavered. Lillie was a true Catholic from the beginning to the end. Her wisdom was far beyond that of any formal education or degrees.
Lillie had numerous jobs while raising her kids that supported the family as well. She worked for the Expanded Food Nutrition Program, duties as a Momma Patrol crossing guard, Avon Sales Representative, Tupperware Representative, and Lackland AFB Servicemaster Cleaning Services. Lillie was a giver, not a taker. She served and supported selflessly, without ever expecting anything in return. She had a flare for fashion and always looked her best for any occasion. Her hair, shoes, nails/toes, jewelry, beautiful makeup and clothes always matched.
Lillie loved her children unconditionally. She was actively involved in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at all her kids schools. She always did her best to participate in all extra-curricular activities (baseball games, band, ROTC competitions, etc.) her kids were involved in. She would often volunteer to drive and help in any way she could.
Lillie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Pedro, father Jacob, mother Josephine, brothers Frank, Cipriano, Rudy, Jacob Jr., Eusevio, sister Rachael Coronado and son Johnny. She is survived by her sisters Amalia DeLaCruz (Jorge), Rose Garcia, Georgina Perez, Shirley Garza, Luz Lozano and Manuelita Moreno (Ray); her brothers David Garcia, Jerry Garcia (April), Moses Palacios, David Palacios and Johnnie Palacios (Rosemary); children Cindy Lopez (Robert), Pedro Ruiz Jr., Rita Apolinar (Adam), Jacqueline Goede (Raymond), Martin Ruiz, Craig Ruiz (Holly), and Joseph Ruiz (Teresa); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Porter Loring Funeral Home on April 26, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Von Ormy, Texas on April 27, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
