Lillian Hirschfelder Murray, 94, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. She was born in Beeville, Texas on September 25, 1920 to Chester J. & Ethel Hirschfelder. Lillian, as an Army Brat considered San Antonio her home because her father was stationed at Fort Sam Houston as Post Commander. Lillian was active in schools and subsequently graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio in 1940. She met the love of her life 69 years ago as his prize at a Bingo game at the Officer’s Club at Ft. Sam Houston. Lillian was a military wife serving with her husband in Japan in 1946, came stateside in 1948 and in Okinawa from 1970 to 1972. Col. & Mrs. Murray are former residents of Windcrest and members of Concordia Lutheran Church. She leaves behind her husband, Col. John E. Murray, USAF Retired; son, Jesse King Murray; grandchildren, Craig, Jameson, Treasure Faye and Suzanne; great grandsons, Jackson, Samuel, Maxwell and Liam; great granddaughter, Chloe and several nieces and nephews. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
