Lillian Pauline Cavazos returned home to the Lord on August 14, 2016. She passed away of natural causes in San Antonio at the age of 87. Lillian, known to many as Lilly, was born in San Antonio on June 29, 1929 to José and Maria Carranza. She married Trinidad Cavazos, her husband of 56 years, on April 23, 1949 at San Fernando Cathedral. She was a beloved mother to seven children. Lillian’s family always remained her focus. She worked hard to raise her children, but certainly knew how to have fun. She could dance to any genre of music. She loved shopping with her friends and family, with a keen eye for fashion. Most of all, Lillian knew how to laugh and make others laugh. She retired from civil service at the Kelly Air Force Base after over 20 years. While at Kelly, Lillian attended Southwest Texas State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Business. She also worked in her community with Project Quest and was a dedicated supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Lillian was a rock and matriarch throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven of her siblings. Lillian is survived by her brother Felix Carranza; her sons Paul, Daniel, Anthony, Jesse, John and Adam; her daughter Diane; their spouses; her 31 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Lillian’s behalf. The Rosary will be held on Wednesday, August 17 at 7 pm. The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 18 at 12:30 pm. Both services will be at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church.
