Leoncio DeHoyos, born January 13, 1926 in Melvin, Texas, passed away on November 17, 2019 at the age of 93. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Noemi M. DeHoyos; children, Xavier E. DeHoyos (Diane), Daniel I. DeHoyos, Leticia DeHoyos-Rawe (Clifford T. Rawe); grandchildren, Andrea D. DeHoyos, Amanda L. Simmons (Joshua), Brandon I. DeHoyos, Alina M. DeHoyos, Natalie Luna-Kuhn (Frank) and great grandchild, Maddox I. Johnson. At the age of only seventeen years, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and is a veteran of World War II. He served in the 96th Infantry (“The Deadeyes”), 86th Signal Company, and fought in the Pacific Campaign, receiving a Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and three overseas service bars for battle. He was a dedicated family man and man of God, serving as church treasurer and trustee at Las Palmas Church of the Nazarene for many decades, and served on the board of trustees for Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be at Sunset Funeral Home on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 8:00 am, with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 9:15 am.
