He joined the Marines September 21, 1946, was stationed in San Diego, California, and was honorably discharged September 10, 1948 at the rank of Sergeant. After leaving the
Marines, he attended the University of Texas and met Jo Ann Stancliff. They were married and
Laurence went to work for Xerox in Austin and was the first service technician in South Texas. He
then moved his family to San Antonio, Texas in July of 1964 and retired from Xerox in 1983. Next
they moved to Canyon Lake, Texas and he spent most of his time helping his wife with her
painting. He would make frames, load and unload the trailer, set up displays at art shows, and
anything else he was instructed to do. Then he started moving rocks with his Bobcat, and this
soon became his passion. It was a rare day if he didn't spend time on his Bobcat moving rocks,
taking out trees, adding to the burn pile, and building a rock wall. Also, he loved Laurence
Welk. Every Saturday evening he would make sure he was in front of his TV to watch the band,
dancers, and bubbles. He was always there for anyone, regardless of the circumstances. He was a
Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and will be missed by everyone and never be
forgotten.
