Kyle Christie was born in San Luis Obispo to Ray E. and Maurine Christie on October 23, 1964. He went to school at Arroyo Grande High School. He married Rosie Hernandez-Christie on February 4th, 1989 in San Angelo, TX. Kyle worked as a Communications Computer Systems Operator for USAF for 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force, his final occupation involved being a Sharepoint Project Manager under DHA. As a veteran, he was awarded the Air Force Achievement, Joint Service Achievement, National Defense Service, Defense Meritorious, and AF Good Conduct medals, NCO PME, AF Overseas Short Tour, and AF Training ribbons. He also received the Air Force Longevity Service award, Joint Meritorious Unit award, AF Outstanding Unit award and AF Organizational Excellence award. Kyle was involved with Combined Federal Campaign and volunteered for FEMA.
Kyle Christie is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rosie, and their two daughters, Brianna and Braylee.
The family of Kyle Christie wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Jaycox, Dr. Weisenthal, Dr. Olsen, Dr. Mumford, RN Evy Deutch, RN Kristen Hernandez, as well as BAMC ER and Palliative staff. We would also like to thank Alistair McLean and the DHA family for supporting him while he fought during this difficult time. Thank you to Kent and his great golfing friends - we appreciate you in keeping Kyle in your hearts. We'd also like to thank Kyle's niece and family in California as well as all other friends and family who messaged us kind and encouraging words for Kyle.
A funeral service for Kyle will be held Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 12:15 PM to 1:15 PM officiated by Deacon Paul at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A military full honors shelter 5 will occur Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 1:45 PM to 2:15 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. A reception will occur Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218.
