It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Kenneth G. Strain, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud veteran, who left us on December 4, 2023. Kenneth, age 78, served his country with honor and dedication for over 31 years in the United States Army, leaving an indelible mark with his exemplary military service.
Born on November 22, 1945, Kenneth's journey began in Stockton, California, where he developed the strong character and unwavering commitment that would define his life. Throughout his distinguished military career Kenneth earned numerous accolades for his outstanding service, including the prestigious Legion of Merit and Bronze Star recognizing his exceptional contributions to the nation.
In addition to these distinguished awards, Kenneth was recognized with the Meritorious Service Medal, highlighting his tireless dedication and exemplary leadership. The Army Commendation Medal further underscored his commitment to excellence and commendable performance throughout his military tenure.
Following his military service, Kenneth transitioned to civilian life, contributing to the community through his work with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. His legacy of service continued, embodying the principles of duty, honor, and selflessness.
Beyond his military service, Kenneth's meticulous care extended to his passion for cars. He completely restored a 1973 Porsche 914 and enjoyed driving it along the Monterey Coast, a testament to his attention to detail and dedication. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, strength, and the importance of maintaining the things we work hard for and hold dear.
Kenneth's love for life was evident in his passions and pursuits. Together with his beloved wife of 60 years, Jeri L. Strain, he explored the beauty of both coasts and cherished the simplicity of camping. In retirement, Kenneth found joy in the company of his family and the pleasures of watching action movies, westerns, the History Channel, the Food Network, HGTV, and car restoration shows. His sweet tooth was satisfied with his favorite chocolate cake, a dessert that became synonymous with family gatherings.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karin Michelle Lynch; daughter-in-law, Kathy Strain; and brother, Terry Strain. Kenneth is survived by his devoted wife, Jeri L.
