On April 16, 2014, Kenneth (Ken) Fletcher of Comal County Texas was called to be with his Lord and Savior. Kenneth was born on September 8, 1930 in Coryell County, Texas. His family moved to Temple, Texas when he was 12 years old and lived there until he joined the Navy in 1948. Kenneth attended Temple High School and worked numerous odd jobs while going to school. After serving in the U.S. Navy in San Diego, California and in U.S. Occupation Forces in Yokosuka, Japan, he returned to Temple where he met the everlasting love of his life, Johnnie Rae Haley of Holland. They were married in October of 1950 and have three daughters. In l956, Kenneth began his career in the insurance business. He was moved from Temple to the Rio Grande Valley, Austin, New Orleans, Dallas and in 1970, he was transferred to San Antonio where he worked for the same company 30 years and retired in October of 1985. After retirement he started his own insurance adjusting company and a pest control company and retired again in June 2012 and lived the rest of his life in Comal County.
Kenneth is preceded in death by wife, Johnnie Rae; mother, Oneta Baize Fletcher; father, Truman Fletcher; sisters, Barbara Ledger and Wanda Pyeatt; and brother, Terry Fletcher. Survivors include his daughters, Sheila Fletcher Schultz & husband, Larry of New Braunfels, Texas; Teresa Fletcher Rihn & husband, Mike of Lake Hills, Texas and Vickie Fletcher Mechler & husband, Mike of New Braunfels, Texas. Kenneth if also survived by 2 brothers, Bill & Dale Fletcher, 2 sisters, Linda Ramage and Judy Taylor, 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Jacob officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Sunset Memorial Park.
