Kathleen served her country as a Yeoman Second Class during World War II, stationed at Naval Station Treasure Island, San Francisco Bay, from 1943 to 1945. There, she decoded sensitive messages, censored letters and other communications. While based in San Francisco, Kathleen met and fell in love with Aubrey W. Hall, a Navy Machinist's Mate assigned to aircraft carriers based there. The two wed in 1945 at the Glide Memorial Methodist Church in San Francisco. They took a Honeymoon train trip to San Antonio and never left. They were married for 54 years until Aubrey's death in 1999.
Kathleen had a tremendous passion for travel. She traveled to all 50 states-- 49 by road trips. One favorite was a 1962 trailer trip to the Seattle World's Fair with Aubrey and her four children that went through 10 states. She loved road trips with fellow travel enthusiasts and was a member of the Bear Cats camping group for 30 years. Kathleen also traveled extensively in the US and England for Model A rallies and tours, and was a long time member of the Alamo A's. On a favorite occasion, she toured the length of the Canadian-Alaska Highway in their 1931 Model A400 Convertible Sedan.
Kathleen was an avid Spurs fan, imaginative crafter, and jovial game-player. She'd play Gin or Double Solitaire with anyone she met, and never missed a good Bingo game.
Originally from Augusta, Kansas, Kathleen lived in San Antonio for 69 years. She was a Methodist Hospital Bluebird volunteer for 25 years and a charter member of the current Trinity Methodist Church when it originally met in Glen Oaks Elementary School in 1960. While in Kansas, Kathleen graduated from Wichita East High School, completed business school in Wichita and worked as a secretary until joining the Navy. She completed her Navy training at Hunter College in the Bronx, New York City.
Kathleen is survived by children Madelyn Reass, husband Richard, John Hall, wife Cheryl, Pamela Sonnen, husband Edward, Brenda Gutierrez, husband Rick; and grandchildren Matthew, Sarah, Kelley, Katelyn and Rikki; and, great grandchild, Zack.
