Her five children, Linda and her husband Chuck, Nancy and her husband Dale, Janet and her husband Carley, Bill and Karen regret to announce the passing of Katherine Rogers on February 19, 2021 due to a brief illness, unrelated to Covid-19. She was born on June 18, 1932 in York County, South Carolina. She was married to Ira M. Rogers of Mullins, South Carolina, now deceased, a proud military veteran, for more than 66 years.
Katherine enjoyed reading, especially mysteries and watching television. She followed most sports on TV but her favorite team was the San Antonio Spurs. Her collections of decorator plates and cookbooks were immense and will certainly be treasured by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A long-time member of Crestview Baptist Church, formerly known as Terrell Hills Baptist Church, she served as the treasurer as well as various positions in the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. While able to do so, she took road trips with her sisters to her homestead in South Carolina and traveled to Hawaii, her favorite tropical destination.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, William and Ola Wilson of Clover, South Carolina. She is survived by two sisters, Frances Baker of Longview, Texas and Thelma Harrison of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by seven grand-children Phillip (Stephanie) Goettsch, Adam (Jen) Goettsch, Shane (Katie) Sartalamacchia), Jeremy (Dana) Sartalamacchia), Chad (Cortney) Sartalamacchia, Travis (Jessica) Sartalamacchia and Kathleen Andrews (Colton ) Williams and thirteen great grand-children Kylie, Ceara, Caleb, Joshua, Cassie, Alex, Emma, Elizabeth, Arwen, Luke, Travis Jr, Ollie and Teddy and a great-granddaughter on the way.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway. A private burial service will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
