

Karen was born on October 13th, 1956, at Fürstenfeldbruck Air Base in Germany, to parents Keith Moran and Joni Moran. Karen graduated from John Marshall High School in 1974 and had a long career in the Department of Defense. Some of her assignments included working at the Pentagon and lived in Virginia and Maryland while there, she moved to Tuttle, OK and retired in San Antonio, Texas where she called home.
Karen’s smile lit up a room and her quick wit made everyone laugh. She was an avid reader, loved to cook, especially holiday meals and solving difficult crossword puzzles. She was a fighter to the end and an inspiration to keep being strong, no matter what gets in your way!
Karen was most proud of her son, SFC., Ryan K. Wurz, who served 2 tours in Afghanistan.
Preceding her in death was her mother, Joni Moran; stepmother, Yolanda Moran; brother-in-law, Galen Moffett; nephew, Adam Sawyer.
Karen is survived by her husband, Dean Lowe; father and stepmother, Keith and Pat Moran in San Antonio; sisters Judy Whatley (Mark) in San Antonio and Mary Moffett in Houston, TX and stepsister Pam Hager (Chris) in Sellersville, PA and stepbrother Scott Fairchild (Kelsey) in Orlando, FL. Son SFC. Ryan Wurz (Eva) in Ft. Gordon, GA and stepdaughter Amanda Lowe in San Antonio. Grandchildren Freya, Arya and Willow Wurz, and cousins Ashley Whatley Ballard (Brandon) in San Antonio and Sara, Grant and Emily Moffett in Houston, TX.
A memorial service will be held on July 6, 2021, at 10:00 am in St. Brigid Catholic Church located on 6907 Kitchener St, San Antonio, TX 78240.
