Juanita was born on July 11, 1936 in Mathis, Texas to Guy and Virgie Phillips. Juanita soon moved with her family to Houston Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Ford Pittman and her Brothers; Bill, Jerry, and Jimmy Phillips. Juanita is survived by her sons, Richard Pittman and wife Kathryn; Ronald Pittman and wife Maria, grandsons, Mitchell James Pittman and Maximilian Pittman; brothers Glen Phillips and Kenneth Phillips; sister, Mary Phillips and many nieces and nephews.
Juanita dedicated a large portion of her life teaching child.
Some people will know her from being a teacher/director of John Marshall Baptist church and school. She worked at the church/school from the early 1970’s to the late 1980’s when the school closed.
Other’s will know her from being a teacher/director/bus driver/cook for Tezel Oaks church of the Nazarene and day care. She work there for over 20 years.
She retired in 2006 but she went back to work after a week.
She worked as a teacher at Country Home learning center. Sher work there for over 7 years.
She retired again and this time for a month.
She went back to work as a crossing guard for Leon Valley elementary.
Juanita would also volunteer her time at Leon Valley elementary where she helped in the office. She would also volunteer at Leon Valley city Library.
Thanks goes to Colonial Gardens and the staff that took care of her for the last year. To the activities director who would keep an eye on her when she moved in. To the nurses and staff with all the hard work they do a special thank you from the Pittman Family.
Juanita will be missed by her and family and friends
Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera road on Thursday, January 10, 2019 beginning at 11:00 A.M.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Thursday January 10, 2019 with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
