Juan "John" J. Guerrero, age 71, of Adkins, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 10, 2023. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Emma and Joe Ochoa Guerrero. John attended Harlandale High School and later went into the United States Navy at the age of 17. He served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman for a total of 23 years, some of which was spent on the USNS Comfort. After leaving the service, John went on to work at Southeast Baptist Hospital as an Ultrasound Tech and Nuclear Medicine Tech. He later became the Director of Radiology at Southeast Baptist Hospital and at Mission Trail Baptist Hospital. After working 38 years for the Baptist Health System, he retired and later went to work part-time at Alamo City Golf Trails, where he met many lifelong friends.
John was a loving husband and father to his family, always putting his family first. He loved being outdoors and listening to old country music, even hunting and fishing in his spare time. He enjoyed golfing, barbequing, dancing, and cheering on his favorite team, the Astros. John was also a very devout parishioner of San Fernando Cathedral and found so much happiness there throughout his life, later on sharing that love with his children and his wife, Mary Ellen, on their second date.
John is preceded in death by both of his parents; and his brother Raymond Guerrero. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Guerrero; his 6 children, Antoinette Guerrero, Kelli Guerrero, Lisa Ann Gonzalez (Isaac), John Anthony Guerrero, Jacqueline Skinner (Sean), and Victoria Guerrero; his stepdaughter, Jessica Martinez (Miguel); his 3 sisters, Margie Hernandez, Norma Ramirez, and Patricia Lopez; as well as 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
