He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Villela and brother Jeffrey Villela.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna Marie (Garay) Villela, and children Jailyn Joy and Joshua Jacob Garay Villela; his father, Juan Villela and brothers Michael, Jason, and Jeremy Villela.
Many know Joshua from his dedication to public service and the community. He started his employment at Parent/Child Inc. Head Start at the age of 18 as a teacher assistant and moved up to Quality Assurance Monitor. In 2009 he began his career with The City of San Antonio in the Department of Human Services, Head Start Division. Most recently, Joshua oversaw the City of San Antonio Child Care Services Program as Program Administrator. Joshua dedicated his life to serving children and families in the San Antonio community. Joshua is known for his high quality dedication, compassion and drive to help others.
His friends and loved ones will remember Joshua with his quick wit and joking nature. He enjoyed fishing at “Guy Trip,” the Chicago Bears, having a good time with friends and music. Often he would wow an audience by singing a song at Karaoke. Josh was a man who could make friends with anyone he met. He always saw the good in everyone, never judged anyone before getting to know them. He was the epitome of a man who would give you the shirt off his back, always putting others before himself.
Joshua had many achievements such as graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University @ Kingsville. He completed his degree while working a full-time job and attending classes in the evening. However, anyone would tell you that his greatest accomplishments were his children, Jailyn and Joshua. You could always find Joshua on the court coaching Jailyn’s volleyball team, The Savages, or on the field at Joshie’s baseball games. A kid at heart himself, he loved seeing his children play and grow. Joshua was a devoted husband to his wife, Marie. They married in 2006 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church and spent 16 years as husband and wife. Joshua always put marriage and family first. He was a proud father and devoted husband.
A visitation for Joshua will be held Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 1918 Palo Alto Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78211.
