A golden heart stopped beating as Josephine R Castaneda, lovingly known as "Jo" was called home by Jesus on September 14, 2017. A native of San Antonio, Texas, she was born January 28, 1936 to Adrian and Evangelina Rodriguez.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, son Ricardo Castaneda and granddaughter Bianca Ruth Dunn. She is survived by her immediate family: daughters, Johanna Dunn and Irene Castaneda; sons, Ruben Castaneda (Suzanne) and Edward Castaneda; grandchildren: Clarissa Dunn, Adrian Garcia, Philip Dunn (Tiffany), Xavier Castaneda, Ricki Castaneda; great-grandchildren: Jayden, Anthony Garcia, Sophia Rose, Analise and Luke Dunn; sisters Ruth and Yolanda; brothers Jose and Benito...all were loved by her with heart and soul.
Josephine retired as a civil servant October 21, 1981. Josephine's entrepreneurial spirit allowed her to build a retail leather goods store catering to San Antonio tourists over 35 years. Prayer was a daily part of her life. Her generous spirit was treasured by everyone who knew her. Josephine's family was her greatest joy in life. She never hesitated to sacrifice for her family and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Josephine Castaneda is now in heaven's beautiful garden. The family will receive guests at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 13715 Riggs, on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. with Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mission North Burial Park.
