Joseph Robert (Bob) O’Neill, age 95, passed away on December 26, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born February 5, 1928 in Frisco, Texas. Mr. O’Neill loved to drive and still had a driver’s license good for 2 more years! He like the independence it gave him. In these last few years, he did not drive far from home. The neighbors would notice that almost daily he would go somewhere at 2:00 pm-they were never sure where? He enjoyed going to 5 particular restaurants (several whom knew him by name), HEB, the bank and service stations, etc. Turns out driving was the cause of his going to heaven at such an early age!
He was a loving husband of 72 years, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed. He worked many years in the insurance business and blessed several Baptist churches with his choir bass voice and Sunday School teaching. He loved to study the Bible with commentaries, of which he had several of both.
Mr. O’Neill was preceded in death by his parents, 5 siblings (and their spouses), and his own wife.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Bob and Brad; daughter-in-law, Joy; 3 grandchildren, Kyna, Trebor and Summer; 1 granddaughter-in-law, Kristi; 6 great grandchildren, Skylyn, Olivya, Addilyn, Nykole, Rexilyn, Ryan; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
And just about like everyone else at the time, he served in the military during WWII.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 5th from 9:30-10 am in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with the Funeral Service at 10:00 am. The burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park at 11:00 am.
