Sergeant Major (Retired) Joseph Paul Jordan passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 17, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born on March 24, 1947, in Hattiesburg, MS to Creola Jordan.
Joseph was a kind and loving husband to Johnnie Mae Jordan for 58 years and his greatest joy was his family.
Joseph was known by many names and titles: Joe, Joe-Moe, Daddy, Pop, Pa, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle Joe, Cousin, Friend and Buddy. He always offered encouragement, words of wisdom and a compassionate ear.
He saw the good in everyone.
He had a work ethic second to none. He served 27 years in the United States Army and 20 years for the United States Postal Service. Education was important to him; and he was always filled with pride with each of his children and grandchildren’s educational accomplishments.
Joseph’s favorite pastimes were fishing and traveling with family. Last Thanksgiving he had the joy of combining both during a memorable fishing excursion with his family, creating cherished moments to treasure forever.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joseph is preceded in death by his mother, Creola Jordan Creagh and stepfather, Edward Creagh, brothers Ezra Charles Jordan, Edward “Sonny” Creagh Jr and John Massey Creagh.
He leaves to treasure his memory; his wife, Johnnie Mae Jordan, Daughter and Son-in-Law, Loraine and Warren Catlett, Daughter, Victoria Jordan Spicer, Grandchildren: Nicole Catlett, Tiffany Spicer, Cameron Catlett and Jordan Spicer; Brothers, Jerry Nunn (Pam) and Michael Creagh (Felicia), nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous other relatives.
