On Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at 2:30 in the afternoon, Our Heavenly Father beckoned one of His magnificent creations, Jose Mario Rubio III, to join Him on high. Jose, or “Joey” as he was lovingly called, was born on January 8, 1987 here in San Antonio. Joey attended local schools, graduating from Southwest College Preparatory, and later Career Point College, with a certification in Office Management. He enjoyed doing things with his brother and father, as well as spending precious time with his son, “Joe Joe”. Joey had a very mischievous side, and loved playing jokes on people. The he would look at you with his big brown eyes, and laugh with that infectious laughter of his. A friend to everyone, Joey never met a stranger; for to know Joey was to love Joey. His smile and quiet spirit will truly be missed. Joey is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Mortimer Munoz, and his paternal grandfather, Jose Mario Rubio, Sr. He leaves to cherish precious memories: his beloved son, Jose Mario Rubio IV, his devoted parents, Jose Mario, Jr. and Bertha Rubio, his brother, Marcos Rubio and his sister, Cathy Rubio of Denton, Texas. Also left with very fond memories are: his maternal grandmother, Bertha Munoz of Eagle Pass, Texas, his paternal grandmother, Eva Rubio of Del Rio, Texas, 3 uncles, 4 aunts, and a host of other relatives, his girlfriend, Cynthia Ybarra, and many friends. The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to the staff of the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital, and also to the faculty and staff, both present and retired, of David Crockett Elementary School. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary Service to begin at 7:00 P.M. that evening at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 7893 Grissom Rd. with Rev. Msgr. Patrick Cronin officiating. The interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian. To sign the online guestbook and share your memories of Joey, please log on to www.sunsetnwfuneralhome.com.
