Jose R. Ramos

Jose Ramos Ramos came to the U.S. in 1956. He was a printer by trade and first worked at Mungia Printers. Subsequently, he worked for the Hearst Corporation at the San Antonio Light for 27 years to include newspapers in Temple and Houston. In 1993, Jose retired at the closing of the San Antonio Light.

He is preceded in death by his: Mother, Luciana R. Ramos; First wife, Guadalupe R. Ramos; Sisters, Concepcion Ramos Ramos and Maria Esther Ramos Ramos.

He is survived by: Wife, Maria Teresa Ramos; Sister, Minerva Sanchez Ramos (Jesus); Daughter, Mary Martha Mendez (Roy); Son, Jose R. Ramos Jr. (Carmen); Daughter, Teresa ElHabr (Kamal); Maria C. Valverde (Rick); Stepsons: Jose Antonio Quiñones (Sylvia); Amado Quiñones (Nelly) and Agustin Quiñones.

Grandchildren: Roy Menchaca (Elizabeth), Roxanne Rodgers (Chris), Marc Mendez, Selina Ramos, Jesse Ramos, Vanessa Ramos, Tony ElHabr, Andrew ElHabr, Joseph ElHabr, Laura Arcos (Adam), Alvaro Riojas (Audrye), Jayne Valverde, Edgar Antonio Quiñones, Mario Alberto Quiñones, Jose Alberto Quiñones, Esmeralda Teresa Quiñones and Bryan Quiñones. And numerous great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at Funeraria del Angel Roy Akers Funeral Home 515 N. Main Ave., Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m., with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Procession will depart at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017 for a 9:00 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at St. Jude Catholic Church 130 S. San Augustine, with interment to follow at San Fernando II.
