Jose N. Guerra

Jose N. Guerra, age 79, passed away January 11, 2018, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Laredo, Texas on June 17, 1938, to Jose and Anselma Guerra. He is survived by his wife, Elva V. Guerra; sons, Jose N. Guerra Jr. (fiancé Dora Zavala) and Juan M. Guerra (wife Katherine); grandchildren, Xavier, Andrew, Vivian and Olivia; brothers, Jorge, Juan, and David; and sisters, Norma Lee and Micaela Faulkner. A veteran who served in Korea, Operation Desert Storm, and Desert Shield, Jose retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant with 28 years of Service. Jose was a graduate of Southwest Texas State University (1976), a dedicated civil servant for over 40 years, and an active member of Army Masonic Lodge #1105 and the Alzafar Shrine. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 12:30 P.M. at St. Anthony Claret Catholic Church, 6150 Roft Road with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with U.S. Army military honors.
