Ramon was born in Havana Cuba on January 2, 1926, to Fermina Sara Cid and Ramon Garrido. In only thirty-four short years of life, he accomplished many goals. He graduated from Medical School, opened his private practice, married and in 1955 had his son, Jose Ramon Garrido. He loved his son, life, and the medical profession.
In 1960, his family relocated to New York. Ramon obtained his medical license in the state of New York while interning at St. Claires Hospital. Afterwards he worked in the Emergency room and became the Director of the Home Care at Lincoln Hospital.
In 1968, Ramon received his certificate of naturalization becoming a United States citizen. He loved being a U. S. citizen and never forgot his roots and all the wonderful memories made in Cuba.
In 1969, Ramon and his second wife, Renee visited San Antonio during the World’s Fair; Hemisfair. They fell in love with the Alamo city and decided to make San Antonio their home. Ramon worked for the Veterans Administration and had a private practice. He loved practicing medicine and helping all his patients; many becoming his friend. Ramon retired from the medical field on November 30, 2001.
Ramon loved sharing his wealth of knowledge and life experiences with everyone and especially with his extended family, the Doyle clan.
“Life is a beautiful collection of temporary experiences. Treasure your unique collection and enjoy sharing it with others.” (Matthew Kahn)
Ramon was preceded in death by his son, Jose Ramon Garrido and his wife Naomi, the Doyle family, and many loving friends.
