John W. Rabel

John Wayne Rabel entered this world on June 1, 1960 in San Antonio, Texas, as the middle child of Ervin and Jo Ann Rabel. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 1, 2019 after a lifelong battle with diabetes. He was affectionally known as Johnny or Big John to his family and friends.

Johnny graduated from Edison High School in 1979. Then he entered San Antonio College and graduated with an associate’s degree. After that Johnny began his career as a security guard mainly with ABM Security. He eventually had to retire due to health issues. However, his health never stopped him from enjoying life to the fullest.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Michael. He is survived by his sister, Gloria Rabel, Uncle J.C. Rabel (Betty) and several first cousins.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, the Funeral Mass will be held at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, 14714 Edgemont St., with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
