John R. De Hoyos, a gifted and talented musician went to join Our Lord's orchestra on March 10, 2012.
Our beloved father, John De Hoyos is now with his wife, Elia and son, Paul Anthony, as well as other members of his family. John was born on February 7, 1936 in Uvalde, TX. He then joined the Army and won All Army band honors which landed him a spot on the Ed Sullivan's show.
He returned home, married Elia Esparza and worked as a manager at Walgreen's downtown. He later became a real estate broker. His love of music brought him joy until the very last hours of his life. He was proud to play with and for many different famous musicians.
He is loved and will be missed by his daughters, Judge JoAnn De Hoyos, Elsa Luna (John), Elizabeth Garcia (Albert) and his son, Charles De Hoyos; his sisters, Chonita Serna (Arnulfo), Helen Garcia (Fred), Teresa Garza; brothers, Nasario (Mae), Ray Garza (Gloria), Pete Garza (Amelia), Nick Garza (Sally); and his beloved grandchildren, Julianna, Josephine, Jacqueline, Marissa, Iliana, Dominic, Dylan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Guadalupe Morales, Dr. Gladys Rodriguez, Dr. James Growney and their staff for their care of our father during his illness.
We are blessed to have the support of Father Eddie Bernal and Deacon Jim Rasso throughout our family's loss. We acknowledge all of our family, and friends for their prayers, assistance and comfort.
