1st, 2021. John was born in Wesson, MS November 23rd, 1935 to parents Augustus and Josie (Smith) Sanders.
John was always a ¨mans man.¨ Whether it be being a provider for
his family, handyman, mechanic, or landscaper for his home. John retired from Lansing Board Water & Light of Lansing, MI. In his spare time and weather permitting John loved to fish. And oh was he good at it. Sometimes spending the day out on the water in his boat with grandson, Sam Calhoun and family. Trying to catch as many as he could before going back in for the
day to cut and clean them. Getting them ready for his wife, Norma to fry them, one of his favorite foods to eat. He loved his grands and great grands coming over for dinner too. Always saying ¨get full now, make sure them kids eat as much as they want.¨ He was always like that with them, making
sure they had everything they needed. John and Norma truly lived a full life and there is some peace in knowing that.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Monique Sanders. He
was preceded in death by his son John Melvin Sanders jr. His brothers Ernest, Augustus jr. and Lorenzo Sanders and his sisters Mildred Skinner and Mary King. Surviving brothers Arnet Sanders of Lansing, MI and Gerald Sanders of Huntington Beach, CA. Grandchildren, Sam Calhoun jr,
Sade Sanders, Robert Sanders, Elaine Sanders, Latesha Clemons and 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Norma Gean Sanders passed away peacefully on Monday, June 7, 2021. Norma was born March 9, 1942 in Magnolia, AR.
Norma was a loving family woman. Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She loved to cook and bake. Making big meals and inviting family over to enjoy and spend time. One of her favorite things to do is shop for others and herself. That's one thing about Norma, she liked to look "sharp", as she'd say and smell good wearing her favorite perfumes. Norma liked to talk and was a comforting listening ear to many and will truly be missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Monique Sanders. Grandchildren, Sam Calhoun Jr, Sade Sanders, Robert Sanders, Elaine Sanders, Latesha Clemons and 10 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters Merthrene, Darlene, Earlene, Ozellia, Corene, and Leester. Brothers LD, JD, Levain, Lewis B. Surviving brother Len Jr and sister, Esselia.
