Joe H. Garza

Joe H. Garza, age 79, went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2017 in San Antonio, TX. He was born on May 4, 1937 in Beeville, TX to Manuela and Martin Garza Sr. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, friend who will be dearly missed. He served his country in the Marine Corp and then later in the Army. After completing his Military Service, he then served as a Corrections Officer with the TDCJ. Finally, he proudly was a Texas State Trooper for 31 years. He was a devote Catholic serving his church as a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, a lector and an usher for mass every Sunday.

Mr. Garza was preceded in death by his parents and sister Irene G. Farias.

He is survived by his children, Joe R. (Elizabeth), Daniel (Scott Read), Leticia G. Rabago and their mother Rose R. Garza. His grandchildren Matthew, Kyle, Stephanie, Tommy, Andy, His sister Marina G. Galvan, his brother Martin Garza Jr. (Linda), numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6pm, Tuesday, January 24, 2017 with a Rosary to follow at 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 9:30 am, Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church, 4603 St. John’s Way, SAT 78212.

Interment will follow at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
