Joe Coy Jr., 88, of San Antonio, passed away on February 4, 2014. Born in Poth, Texas, Joe was one of eight siblings. He was a Sergeant first class in the Army, a medic in a MASH unit in the Korean War, a longtime employee of the United States Postal Service, and a fearless handyman. Joe was married to Carmen Coy for over 54 years and leaves behind a legacy of striving for excellence, as evidenced by his daughter, Sandra, and son, Donald.
He also leaves behind sisters, Millie & Della, brother Frank, and many nieces and nephews. The Coy family would like to thank all family and friends who visited, provided support and prayers, and expressed kind sentiments during Joe's battle with pneumonia and Parkinson's. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio TX 78232, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary service to be conducted at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 9:45 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with a reception to follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Northwest Funeral Home.
