Joan Fraser Alvarez, beloved wife, Mother and Grandmother, born on June 21, 1931 in Brookfield, Illinois passed away peacefully on December 16, 2020 at the age of 89. She was laid to rest on December 22, 2020 in her beloved San Antonio, Texas at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Joan (or “Joanie” as her close friends and family called her) was an intelligent and quick-witted and deeply religious woman who graduated from high school a year early. She would have done well in a career in the performing arts, as she had a beautiful singing voice, was a wonderful dancer, and had a flair for the dramatic, often referred to as the “life” of the party. Joan was also kind-hearted, fun loving and devoted to her family. She chose to focus her many talents and gifts on being a wife and mother and later a doting grandmother. Throughout her marriage she was a true partner to her husband, Adolph (who passed away on October 19, 2010) in both life and business. They enjoyed many adventures together and loved to share their exciting stories with friends and family. Joan is survived by her 3 children; daughter, Terri Reagan and husband, Michael; sons, William (Bill) Alvarez and wife, Paulette; and Kenneth West; and 3 grandchildren: Heather and husband, David Ziems; Eric Alvarez and Stephen West; brother-in-law, Joseph Alvarez and sister-in-law, Theresa Berlanga and many nephews and nieces.
Because of COVID-19, no funeral service was held. However, there was a Graveside Prayer Service with a few close family members. Joan will be missed so very much by her children and grandchildren and all family members.
