She was a loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren. Jo Ann married Lacey on October 1, 1949 in Austin, Texas, the same year she graduated from the University of Texas. They were a loving couple for 62 years. Jo Ann grew up in the hardscrabble West Texas ranching communities of the Great Depression where her father was a ranch foreman. She was proud of her rural heritage and enjoyed nothing more than a new project where she could run herd and get the whole family working together. Jo Ann loved her family and enjoyed the many years she spent researching and documenting family history and antiques. She and Lacey worked side by side at their ranch in Johnson City, running their antique business, and restoring old homes. Jo Ann was very active with Delta Gamma Alumni Association and a charter member of the Olmos Park Garden Club. Jo Ann enjoyed all her travels, but especially loved New Mexico most of all. Her greatest love was her family, children and grandchildren. There was always time in her busy life to enjoy them all. A memorial service will be held at Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the loving care Jo Ann received from the staff at Morningside Ministries, (The Meadows, Kaulbauh Assisted Living, and Unit 7 at the Manor).
