March 2, 1938-July 8, 2017
Jesus peacefully entered into Eternal Rest and the loving arms of Our Lord on July 8, 2017 at the blessed age of 79. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was preceded in death by his mother Petra Soriano Zamora and his father Jose DeLeon Zamora. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Teresa Garcia Zamora; his four children: Jesus G. Zamora, Jr. (Karlen Zamora), Margaret Zamora Stevens (Samuel Stevens), Gabriel G. Zamora, and Dr. Veronica Zamora-Campos (Gabriel Campos); his eight grandchildren: Katherine, Gabriella, Zachary, Mathias, Jacqueline, Annalisa, Rebecca and Victoria; and his siblings, Jose Luis Zamora and Mary Isabel Flores. Jesus, a lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas, graduated from Fox Tech High in 1957 and honorably served in the United States Navy for four years. He was a loyal employee of the HEB Grocery Company for 37 years as a diesel/refrigeration mechanic. As a devoted parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church for 54 years, he served in various church organizations, including the Holy Name Society, Altar Society, Festival Committees, and various Youth Religious Education activities. Grounded in his faith, Jesus centered himself around the family. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather and a champion of education for his children and grandchildren. As a man of great character, strength and humility, he took every opportunity to teach his loved ones important life lessons. He was well known for being very organized, precise and methodical in all his projects. Hence, he always practiced, “Measure twice and cut once.” With his practical sense of humor, he believed that it was okay to have a piece of cake or pie for breakfast once in awhile. Ultimately, his greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed well-planned family vacations, chauffeuring his children and their friends to numerous school functions and attending special events proudly for his grandchildren. Jesus was caring, compassionate and always ready and willing to help family and friends at a moment’s notice. In his free time, he also enjoyed watching Jeopardy in addition to being a huge history buff and an avid reader, which included the “intellectual section” of the newspaper, the comics. He will be dearly missed by all. The family will accept visitors on Friday, July 14, starting at 5pm at the Roy Aker’s Funeral Home with a Rosary following at 7pm. Mass is on Saturday, July 15 at 9am at Christ the King Catholic Church and then will be laid to rest at San Fernando Cemetery II. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Christ the King Catholic Church in Jesus’ memory.
