Jeanette Lorraine Batot Miyasato, 84, went home to the Lord surrounded by family and friends on April 6, 2020. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Albert M. Miyasato, and her parents Weldon John Batot and Ruth Belle Pearl Batot (née Judy). She is survived by her daughter Judy Stengel Garcia (Martin Garcia), son David Stengel (Paige Keyser), and known as “Tutu” to her 4 granddaughters, Victoria Grace Stengel, Emily Rose Stengel (Dirk Stalnecker), Chelsea Garcia Nielsen (Devin Nielsen), Amber Judy Garcia, 1 great grandson, Hunter Nielsen, and 2 great step grandchildren Sam and Maggie Stalnecker, and many cousins from Texas and Illinois. Many thanks to Compassus Hospice, Cecilia Cortez, and Elizabeth Gruy for their years of home care assistance.
Jeanette was born in San Antonio as an only child growing up in San Antonio until high school when her parents moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where she graduated from Alcee Fortier High School in 1953. After high school her parents moved back to San Antonio and Jeanette went off to Southern Methodist University where she was initiated into the Delta Gamma fraternity. She eventually obtained a teaching degree from Trinity University and a Master’s degree as a reading specialist from the University of Texas San Antonio. She taught 1st grade and reading at Park Village and Converse Elementary schools in the Judson ISD until her retirement. In her spare time, Jan loved her many cats and was an avid bridge player. She also enjoyed social activities at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, dinner parties with her and Albert’s many friends, travelling to Hawaii and Colorado, and relaxing in Big Bend and the Texas coast.
