Jean J. Busby

Jean was born on September 13, 1932, to Ouida L. (Strowd) Owens, in Ft. Worth, Texas. She is preceded in death by her mother and her husband of 56 years, George W. Busby Jr.

She is survived by her daughters Nancy Cook (Tom), Neice Bell (Jeff), son Mark Busby (Ruth), 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Jean went to live with family in Goshen, Alabama when she was nine years old and moved to San Antonio, Texas at the age of 13. After graduating Hot Wells High School she embarked on a lengthy career at San Antonio Savings Association, starting in the mail room and some 35 years later retiring as Vice President. Affectionately known as Memaw, she loved her family and friends more than anything and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Jean’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Brookdale North Assisted Living and Memory Care in San Antonio for the extraordinary care and kindness they gave to her during her stay.

A celebration of life for Jean will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Tx 78238. Following the celebration of

life will be a committal service from 2:00 PM to 2:20 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
