Javier Balderas Jr., born October 30, 1981 passed away on February 27, 2023 at the age of 41. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Juanita Ibarra, his Mimi Barbara Inman, his uncles Gume Ibarra, and Juan Gabriel Ibarra.
He is survived by mother Yolanda Inman (stepfather Thomas Inman), father Javier Balderas; brothers Jonathan Inman (Victoria) and Carlos Inman; nephews Barron Inman and Theodore Inman; maternal grandfather Gumecindo Ibarra, grandpa Charlie Inman and paternal grandmother Antonia Rodriguez-Constancio.
Javy, as he was affectionately called, was a beloved son and grandson; he worked his way into the hearts of his brothers, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends. He joined the U.S. Army in 2001 right after high school graduation and months before 911 occurred. He served 4 years active service and two in the Army reserves. After being honorably discharged, Javy continued his education and received a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology and a master’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. His passion was playing tennis, riding his bicycle, and enjoying nature. He was a member of the USTA (United States Tennis Association) for decades and played in tournaments all over Texas. His dream was to teach tennis and make it accessible to inner city children. While employed by San Antonio Country Club, he often worked on plans and strategy on how to reach children from low socio-economic areas and bring tennis to them. He was a volunteer with Haven for Hope serving the homeless community, and volunteered at the YMCA where he coached little league baseball in San Antonio, Texas. Javy was a long time vegan too. Until he discovered Wagyu steaks accompanied by a glass of red wine, a nice California red, standard pour. As he would say, “bendito!” Blessed he was.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Memorial service to begin at 7:00 pm.
