Jason Marroquin Magaña, age 41, went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2023. He was born on December 2, 1981 in San Antonio, Texas to Enrique V. and Armandina M. Magaña. He is survived by his son: Chael J. Magaña; his girlfriend: Yvonne Martinez; his parents: his brother: Eric Magaña (Erica Hughley); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members and friends.
Jason was a 2003 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and a 2006 graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He was Senior Financial Accountant at TxBioMed. Jason taught catechism, mentored in Big Brother/Sister program, coached youth basketball and tutored on numerous subjects at all levels.
Jason was a loving and dedicated father who loved his son, Chael, very much. He would always try to give Chael something to look forward to during the school week, Thursday was burger day, and Friday mornings was donut day. They spent time planning their week and weekends. Jason enjoyed coaching his son in soccer preparing him for tournaments. When Chael’s birthday would come around you could always expect Jason to make the occasion a big production. Chael was always his number one priority. A very proud father who always put Chael’s needs first and wanted only the best for him. Basketball was Jason’s favorite sport, he enjoyed playing and even had Spurs Season tickets. It was not unusual for him to get up at 5:30 on a Saturday morning to meet up with friends at some gym. Playing poker with friends was also something he enjoyed very much. Whenever he played cards you would often hear him say, “Orale!”, just to break any tension, and to get a laugh. Jason was never one to waste a weekend. He packed as much into a weekend as he did his work week. He prided himself on doing things people often said were impossible, and often referred to himself as a monster for getting those impossible things done.
“In memory of a special son – It’s sometimes hard to know why some things happen as they do for so much joy and happiness was centered around you. It seems so hard to comprehend that you’re no longer here but all the happy memories will help to keep you near. You’re thought about with pride, Son with each mention of your name death cannot change a single thing the love will still remain.”
Jason was a loving father, son, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.
