Jane Thurmond Gregory

Jane Thurmond Gregory passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in San Antonio on May 5, 1930, to Jimmie V. and Effie May Thurmond. She graduated from St. Mary’s Hall in 1948, attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Viriginia, and Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. Jane then received a master’s degree from the University of the Incarnate Word. She was a lifelong resident of San Antonio.

Jane was a member of he Daughters of the American Revolution, San Antonio de Bexar Chapter. She was past president of Delta Delta Delta alumnae, past president of San Antonio Panhellenic, past president of the Olmos Park Garden Club and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.

She is predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Jimmie V. Thurmond, Jr. and his wife, Melissa.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Dr. Gale Thurmond Gregory; son, Charles Gregory III and his wife, Terri; her grandchildren, Madeline Gregory Cleary and her husband, Joe Cleary III, Marshall Gregory and his wife, Ana, Meredith Gregory, and Reagan Laine. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother.

The Rev. Scott Kitayama, officiating. Pallbearers will be Jimmie Thurmond III, Carter Thurmond Sr., Marshall Gregory, Edward Sealy, Mark Dedmon, Josh Dedmon, and Joe Cleary III. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Thurmond, Charles Gregory III, Marshall Thurmond, and Carter Thurmond Jr. Interment will be private for the family.
