James "Jim" Wells

James “Jim” Wells passed away on August 10, 2023 at the age of 82. He was born on November 26th, 1940 in Lockhart to Bozie and Dorothy Wells. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years Sharon (Kutz) Wells, and his sister, Karen Wells. Jim is survived by his son and daughter, Robert Wells and Julia Wells-Burke, his son in law, Darren Burke, and his two grandchildren, Ashley and James Burke.

Jim was a graduate of Roy Miller High School and Del Mar College in

Corpus Christi. He also graduated from A&I Kingsville, with a bachelors in Business Management. Jim worked over 30 years for Goodyear Tires as a manager and district manager.

Jim loved being around people, and was always joking and making people smile. He was also an avid outdoorsman; he loved boating, fishing, and hunting. Jim cherished his family; for many years he looked after his mother in Georgetown, TX, making sure she was well-cared for. He cared for his wife Sharon (Kutz) Wells when she fell ill with cancer in 2012. Jim adored his family very much.

His friends from high school, with some he had known since elementary school, were his life-long friends. Together, he and his Roy Miller High School buddies enjoyed many turkey hunts, fishing trips, and class reunions. Jim was also a friend to many of his neighbors, and he enjoyed going on walks at the park and visiting with them often. He was a devoted friend, husband, father, and grandfather, - and he will be dearly missed.

A visitation for James will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A committal service will occur Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218.
