James Arthur Watkins Jr.

James Arthur Watkins, Jr. passed away at the age of 61 in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Anchorage, Alaska to Lt. Col. James A. and Mary Watkins. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law: Joel Ellingsworth. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years: Caroline Watkins; brother: David McCormick (Susan); Nephew: David McCormick, Jr. (Sandi); Niece: Casey Eskew (Chris) and numerous family and friends. Jim was an avid sportsman and participated in gymnastics in high school and then tennis and golf in adulthood. He worked for the local chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for several years and later became a self-employed businessman. In his 30’s he went to nursing school and worked as an RN for 20 years. Cystic Fibrosis did not slow him down until later in life. Despite many medical complications, he always remained hopeful and positive. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, competitive nature and caring spirit. A memorial Service will be held at on Friday December 14, 2018 at 2:00pm at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 722 Robinhood Pl. 78209. Special thanks to the Transplant team at University Hospital.
