Our beloved brother and friend to so many, James Daniel Paro, age 88, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016. A member of the "greatest generation". He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force who courageously served in Indochina and during the Vietnam War. He achieved rank of Staff Sargent and received an Honorable Discharge at retirement.
James was the kind of guy that everyone wanted to be around. Known for his humor by all who knew him, both young and old ~ he loved everyone, never met a stranger. He had an incredible memory for people and remembering details. He unselfishly gave of himself and treasured each and every friendship.
James is preceded in death by his father, Joseph William Paro and his mother, Gladys McCovy Paro. He is survived by his sisters and brother: Bernadette Fish of Courtland, NY; Mary Paro of San Bruno, CA; Delores Moody and husband, John of Boston, MA; and John Paro and wife, Teresa of West Paulette, VT. He is also survived by his long-time and best friends Minerva Martinez and Alma Infante, as well as many great, caring and supportive friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27th beginning at 10:30 AM in the chapel at Porter Loring Funeral Home, 1101 McCullough Ave, San Antonio, TX followed by recitation of the Rosary at 11:00 AM and a chapel service at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full Military Honors.
James was kind and caring to every life he touched, he will be deeply missed.
