Pensacola, Florida. James was born July 2, 1982 in San Antonio, Texas to Darlene Morales.
He is preceded in death by his brother Joseph Mendez.
James is survived by his wife, June Mendez and his children, James Mendez Jr, Julia
Mendez, Joseph Mendez, Julius Mendez and Jase Mendez; siblings: Pearl Mendez, April
Mendez, Fred Mendez, Dan Mendez and Miguel Morales.
He married June the summer of 2001 and shortly after followed/supported her in her Air
Force career. Together they traveled around and made a home with every move, starting
with Minot, North Dakota, where they became a family, having their first child and only girl,
Julia. After three years, they relocated to San Antonio for 7 years. Their next move was their
greatest adventure to Okinawa, Japan for 5 years. There they had Joseph and Julius. He
also had a thriving lawn business, providing his service to military families. Next four years
were spent in San Angelo, Texas where Jase was born. They both desired to have a big
family-they were finally complete. Their last move was Pensacola, Florida.
During these years, James raised his children and took care of them from birth until they
started school. He devoted his life to his family, wife and children. His main focus was to be
present and create memories filled with love, laughter, silliness and fun. He wanted to give
his children a life different from his own, with a strong foundation and endless opportunities.
He made sure to tell his wife and kids multiple times everyday that he loved them, it was
important to him that they knew. He was their protector.
James was tough but also caring and always willing to help others. He knew his good deeds
wouldn’t go unnoticed by Him. Even after his death, he continued to help people by donating
his organs. He was selfless.
James was the life of the party, always with that contagious smile and dimples that would
light up a room. He had this boisterous laugh that was unforgettable (and a few choice words
that were often used). People wanted to be in his presence. He was the glue that held
everyone together.
James had big dreams and goals to have his own business within the next year after he and
June planned to make their final move back home to Texas. He also envisioned having
family get-togethers every weekend.
At the end of the day, the most important thing to James was love and family. His legacy will
continue through his children as they live to honor his memory. James will be truly missed by
all of those who loved him.
