Born in Baytown, Texas. “Jim” was the only child of James Eric, Sr and Esther Hoffpauir. He enlisted in the U. S. Army at 18 to serve his country and see the world. Assigned to the Signal Corp and sent to New Jersey for training. It was there he met and married Marie Menzel. He was then sent to Germany with the Occupation Forces and assisted with the Berlin Airlift. He remained stationed there until his enlistment ended. Upon returning to the U.S., he moved with Marie to Houston, Tx where he enrolled in the University of Houston and was later employed by a building material distributor and transferred to San Antonio where Robert, Glenn and Kathleen were born. He was then hired by a new distributor and transferred to Baltimore, Md where Christopher joined the family. When that company was sold he was hired by Georgia Pacific in Washington D.C. to assist with the building of a new warehouse using the tilt up concrete wall construction, which was a new building system in the area. When a managers position opened up in San Antonio, Jim and Marie returned home to Texas with their family, Jim remained with Georgia Pacific as the Branch Manager until retirement. Sadly, after a long illness Marie passed away. He later married second wife Cleta Littlepage Albert, adding her daughter Suzanne to the family as well. The new family joined Concordia Lutheran Church where they were very active socially and Jim served on several committees including the Mission Board, the Building Committee and as President of the Congregation as well as serving as an usher on Sundays. Once retired Jim maintained a small cattle ranch and was an avid golfer, even working as a Marshal on the links. He and Cleta both loved to square dance, they joined the Bexar Squares making many life long friends, who traveled together on dancing vacations around Texas and the country. He is proceeded in death by his first wife Marie Hoffpauir and youngest son Christopher Hoffpauir. He is Survived by his beloved wife Cleta Hoffpauir. Sons Robert Hoffpauir and wife Danette, Glenn Hoffpauir and his wife Glenna. His daughters Kathleen McKiernan, her husband Joseph and Suzanne Albert.
Grandsons Shaun and Dustin McKiernan, Mike Echt. Granddaughters Brianna, Paige and Katy Hoffpauir. Great grandchildren Canaan, Kyle, Jace, Dominic, Mathew, Isabella, Naomi, Kayla, Ariana McKiernan and great, great grandson’s River McKiernan, Carson Echt.
He will be laid to rest in a private service at Sunset Memorial Park.
