James T. Green Jr.

James Taft Green, Jr. departed this earthly life on Monday, November 8, 2010, age 67. He was born in Houston, Texas on November 10, 1942 to James T. Green Sr. and Mary Lee Mitchell Green. Mr. Green retired in 1982 from the United States Air Force after 20 years of dedicated service to his country as a Master Sergeant. He also retired from Civil Service, Kelly Air Force Base, in 2003. He Pastored Free Will Bible Church and Everlasting Word Baptist Church from 1985 -1998 until failing health required him to retire. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gladys M. Green; son, James T. Green III; sister, Sue Carolyn Thomas; brothers, Jesse David Green and Michael Green; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010 from 4pm-7pm at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd. The Celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 12 noon at Leon Valley Baptist Church, 7990 Grissom Rd. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Air Force Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
