James “Jim” E. Davis went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on February 25, 1949 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Joe and Jeanne Davis. Jim is survived by his son, Jeffrey Davis and his wife, Christina; two grandchildren, Barrett and Brennan Davis; brother, Ken Bains and his wife, Judy; loving fiancé, Marie Willshire; and many life-long and loving friends. Jim graduated from Wichita Falls High School “Old High” in 1967. He was a proud member of the Coyotes football team…and you better pronounce that correctly. He continued his education at Midwestern State University where he enjoyed his time on campus as a member of Kappa Alpha Order, KA. He liked to say he “squeezed a four-year degree into five years”, and received his BA in 1973. Jim worked his professional life in insurance, first as an adjuster and then he made a successful transition to a long career as an agent in San Antonio, first with Farmers and then as an independent agent with Goosehead. Jim was an avid sports fan, loyal to the Rangers, Cowboys, and Spurs. He also loved golf and would play often. Jim had a great ear for music and could name the artist and or lyrics for almost any song during his beloved road trips to anywhere and everywhere. He loved music but had a special affection towards The Eagles, Little Big Town, and Willie Nelson. Jim was a devoted father, grandfather, and fiancé. Jim will be missed dearly by all his family and friends but we know he’s “on the road again” and loving it. The family will be receiving friends at 1:00pm on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas. A celebration of life service will begin at 2:00pm followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations or memorials may be made in Jim Davis's name to the American Cancer Society.
