After graduating in 1963 he joined the United States Air Force, and in his service received an Air Force Commendation medal, Air Force Achievement medal, Good Conduct medal, National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service medal, & the Republic of Vietnam medal. He served twenty years in civil service with the United States Army, as well as giving numerous hours of volunteer work in his community.
He leaves loving memories to his siblings Gwen Crenshaw, Sam Crenshaw III, Darryl Crenshaw, Joseph “JoJo” Crenshaw, Sharon Watkins and the late Eli Crenshaw, his children Gregory Crenshaw (Sabrina Crenshaw), and Tangela Hayes (Deris Hayes), 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
James was loved and respected by family, friends and his neighbors alike. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
