There are not enough words to express my gratitude to God for Jack.  He was a devoted husband and father. a  gifted preacher, a  theologian of renown, a faithful pastor,  a churchman extraordinaire, and a tireless worker for the Reforming of Christ's church.  And in his "spare" time, he was a mentor to young ministers  like me as we began our pastorates. Jack was always available to his colleagues and shared with us his invaluable God-given wisdom.  

The OPC has lost a tireless servant of God, one of the last with ties to Old Westminster, having studied under Murray, DeYoung, Stonehouse and Van TIl.  Thank God that we who knew him were so blessed by this servant. 

Godspeed Jack, rejoice in the glories of your Savior's  "well done".      

 Alas for us, Jack has left us for a better place, which is "better by far." We are that much poorer, but he is immensely enriched. Jack stayed in our home in Taree, NSW, Australia back in Sep. 1994, when he discussed the merits of "hot mud" (JJP) versus "cool bananas" (our daughter Cate )! He was a good friend -- we met up at several ICRC meetings over the years. Thanks be to God for every memory of brother Jack Peterson.

Jack was a great friend from the time I first met with the Candidates and Credentials Committee of the PSW of the OPC, transferring from the PCA. I particularly enjoyed Jack's contribution to our annual young people's camp. He preached excellent Christ-centered sermoms and led the camp choir year after year.

Pastor Peterson made a great impact on many lives.  My children have been recalling with me fond stories of camp days.  Jesse especially wanted to make sure to send his condolences.  Pastor will be missed, but I rejoice that he is singing at the throne of God!

I have just learned the news - sad for us, glorious for him - of the death of Jack Peterson. I cherish the memory of a godly man, an erudite scholar, a wise churchman, a sound teacher of God's Word, a caring pastor and a trusty friend to the Free Church of Scotland.  Jack and the late Prof. Clement Graham were both former Assembly clerks in their own denominations and close friends. To hear them in conversation was simultaneously hilarious and deeply edifying. As well as his other more noble qualities, Jack will be remembered  for his vast consumption of Coca Cola. I extend my Christian condolences to his wife Betty and to all who mourn his passing.

We remember Jack with special gratitude for his practical concern to give assistance in attempting to solve difficulties and foster unity in the Church worldwide and for his unstinting efforts to that end.

Dear Betty, David, Debbie and families,
Our sincerest condolences on the passing of Jack.  He made a lasting impact on our entire family!  I remember his way of opening up the Scriptures.  He was a master at the poignant pause.(: He struggled with issues relating to church discipline and the finer points of Reformed doctrine but always spoke from the heart!  My son Nathan tells us that Jack was the most "real pastor" he has ever known. We remember fondly his oft used phrase: "Now go out and be a pleasing aroma to the world." We can picture the look of pure joy on on his face when he looks into his Savior's eyes and hears those words we all hope to hear: "Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the rest I have prepared for you." May his Lord and ours grant you His peace along with all you stand in need of in the days and weeks ahead.

I first met Jack or I should say Reverend Peterson at Elim Bible Camp in South Dakota. He was super nice, fun and had a wonderful voice. 
Going to miss him. 

I will always remember Jack for his sweet, pleasant, joyful disposition.  I was honored to have known such a lovely Christian individual.  

My deepest sympathy for your loss, Betty and family.  May HIS promises ring even more true in your hearts at this very difficult time.

God bless you dear family as you lean on him!  I am so thankful for the times that we had together over the years.  I have so many precious memories of games we played.   The joy we had singing.  Betty at the piano and Jack directing choirs  at camps, in Grant County, or  at our churches.   We were taught many truths as we set under his teaching.  So many things to be thankful for.
