Mr. Israel M. (Joe) Villareal, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the age of 71. He was born on August 17, 1941 to Israel Sr. and Dolly Villareal in Kingsville, Texas. Israel was preceded in death by his mother, Dolly Villareal and daughter, Glenda A. Villareal. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Maria Elena Villareal; his father, Israel Villareal Sr. and wife Julia; brothers, Rene Villareal and wife Mina, Edmund Villareal and wife Sahlee; daughters, Elizabeth A. Villareal, Patricia A. Karagich and husband Matthew; sons, Joe T. Villareal and wife Jill, Antonio Elizondo and wife Rachel, Ruben Elizondo and wife Edna; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many friends. He was a patriot and served his country for 20 years as a Tech Sgt in the U.S. Air Force and earned many medals. After his service he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier and retired after 20 years. He loved to fly his flag and collect eagles. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. A visitation will be held at the Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on 6321 Bandera Rd., San Antonio, on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary Service at 7:00 P.M. The graveside service and interment with military honors will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd.
