Irma Yglesias Zamora, age 81, passed away Sunday July 24, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born November 27, 1940, in Blewett, Texas outside of Uvalde to Elvira Gutierrez Yglesias and Eliseo Yglesias.
Irma married Ruben Zamora in Uvalde, Texas on July 22, 1959. They lived in numerous places throughout the world while Ruben served in the Air Force. Austin, Texas became their home in 1967 where they established the family business and she worked as the office manager.
As the matriarch of the family, Irma was a devoted wife, deeply loving mother, and doting grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and baking for the entire family for gatherings and holidays. Her Christmas cookies were a favorite by all and her daughters-in-law suspect the full recipe was "top secret". She loved traveling to new places and visiting family while reminiscing, laughing, and sharing stories. She enjoyed the beauty and nature of gardening. Irma shared a special bond with her beloved dogs Dolly, Amigo, King, and Tasha.
Irma is preceded in death by her parents, brother Armando Yglesias, and sisters Henrietta Nevarez and Vera Nevarez. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Ruben Zamora; her children: son Michael Zamora and wife Rita; son Anthony Zamora and wife Ekaterina, Anthonys children with Dawn Zamora, Gabrielle Zamora-Everett and husband Kyle Everett and Zachary Zamora; son Daniel Zamora and wife Carrie, their children Taelor Peoples, Brendan Zamora, and Mathew Zamora; and daughter Ann Marie Zamora and Robert Arteaga; sister Elida Benavides, brothers Joe and Alvaro Yglesias and life time friend Frances Guevara; her beloved dog Dolly, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary West, located at 1710 W Loop 1604 N, San Antonio, TX 78251.
