Irene C Gonzales was born on February 23, 1954 and entered eternal paradise on November 22, 2018. She fought a brave battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her children and sisters. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny R Gonzales and was the proud mother of three children: Patty, Elaine (Erik Flores) and Johnny Levine. She loved spending time with her two young grandsons, Erik and Eli.
Irene was born in San Antonio, Texas and was the youngest of nine children born to William and Librada Cochran. She has been reunited in heaven with her husband, parents and two older brothers: Alvin Cochran and Edmund Cochran. Her surviving siblings include: Steve Cochran, Charles Cochran, Ella Marie Sandoval, Gladys Guerra, Joann Cantu and devoted sister and caregiver Elaine Cochran. Irene also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Irene had a long career as a Paralegal, having worked with many lawyers in the San Antonio area. She was a hard working professional who shared her drive and work ethic with her children.
Irene was a loving mother, sister and caring friend. She brought happiness to all those fortunate enough to have met her. Irene loved cooking and sharing her recipes. She enjoyed music, dancing and gardening. She loved fishing and the beach.
Irene was compassionate, kind and generous. She maintained a positive attitude and taught others to always be appreciative and grateful. She was known for her quick wit, wild sense of humor and contagious laugh.
She was a selfless woman and the most beautiful human being we have known. She will be missed and never forgotten.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 30th at 7pm at Faith Bible Church, 423 E Ashley, San Antonio, TX, 78221. In lieu of flowers, she asked that you please consider making a donation to this church.
