Irene was born on February 22, 1953, to Damacio and Elida Delgado in San Antonio, Texas. Irene graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971. While in high school she was asked by one of her best friends, Sylvia Renteria, if she could write a letter to a cousin of hers who was serving in the Vietnam War. That cousin of hers was named Ramiro. After Irene gladly agreed to write a letter to him, it became one of many letters and photos that were exchanged by both Ramiro and Irene as well as long distance phone calls. They both quickly fell in love with one another. When he completed his military duties overseas, he was finally able to return home where he was able to see Irene in person for the very first time. Their love strengthened, and soon Ramiro proposed to Irene. They were married on November 13, 1971.
Irene’s greatest accomplishments in life were being a devoted wife to her husband and a loving mother to her three children. There was nothing she wouldn't do to make sure her family was well taken care of. Being a grandmother brought her great joy. She loved each one wholeheartedly and enjoyed spoiling them. Irene had a passion for cooking and baking. Anyone who ever came to one of the many parties she threw never left disappointed or hungry. She was well known for her delicious menudo, tasty German chocolate cake, and scrumptious mini pecan pies.
Irene will be greatly missed. Though she is gone from sight, she will forever be carried in our hearts. Without a doubt we will one day be reunited with her. We now have a special angel watching over us.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Ramiro M. Casiano; children, Ramiro Casiano, Jr (Veronica), Irene Lupita Rodriguez (Oscar), Michael D. Casiano (Wendy); grandsons Brandon, Steven, Brian and Matthew; granddaughters Alexis and Alyssa; siblings Gene Delgado, Dolores Tapia, Jo Ann Hernandez (David), Ben Delgado (Gloria) and Rose Jamison (Robert) and numerous nieces and nephews.
