Homer V. Sanchez passed away on April 17th, 2014; Homer was born in San Antonio, Texas to the late Jose and Hermina Sanchez on July 3, 1925. He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Oralia Sanchez. He was a proud Navy combat veteran who served in WWII and served on the USS North Carolina for the Pacific Invasion. He enjoyed making people laugh, loved dancing, fishing and going to casinos. He graduated from Fox Tech High school and attended Kansas University. He was a Director of St.Vincent DePaul. He was also a United States Postal Worker for many years. He worked for the City of San Antonio. He was also a member of VFW. He was a member with the Knights of Columbus of St.Matthew Catholic Church. He was a Master Engraver of Precious Metals. He is also preceded in Death by his brothers Luis Sanchez and Joe Sanchez. Homer is survived by his Children; Homer Sanchez Jr. (Belen), Pete Sanchez (Becky), Susan Rios (Mario), Sylvia Barrera (Richard), Judi Sanchez, and his Grandchildren; Tara Sanchez Ford (Jon), Michael Sanchez (Lizanne), Ryan Sanchez , Leah Sanchez Thompson (Matthew), Marc and Nathan Sanchez, Lisa Marie Mendoza(Joey), Eric Tristan (Deirdra), Richard Barrera (Marissa), Christine Barrera Garcia (Phillip) , with 10 Great Granddaughters and 3 Great Grandsons and a Special friend Angie Ruiz. In lieu of flowers please donate to American Cancer Society Relay for Life North for Warriors for Hope Team in Memory of Homer and Oralia Sanchez. A special thanks to Progressive home health care and Outreach care providers and the Medical staff at the MARC. Also a special thanks to the members of St. Matthew Catholic Church Senior center. Visitation will be at Sunset North Funeral Home on Monday April 28th from 5-9 pm Rosary being recited at 7 pm. Funeral Procession will depart the funeral home Tuesday April 29th at 9:30 am for a 10 am Mass at St. Matthew Catholic Church with burial to follow at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery. Services under the direction of Sunset North Funeral Home.
