He was born November 19th, 1935 at home in San Antonio, Texas to Henry Perez Jr. and Rosa Lopez Perez. Henry attended Sidney Lanier High School where he excelled in football and basketball.
After graduating high school in 1954, he joined the US Navy and 1 year later joined the US Army. He was honorably discharged with the ranking of Specialist Third Class on December 13th, 1957. During his service years he was stationed at Schofield Barracks Army Base in Hawaii. After his service in the Army Henry worked for the US Postal Service in San Antonio where he retired after 37years of service.
Henry “Kiki” was recognized as one of the country’s top Billiards player and well known throughout San Antonio as “El Cartero”. He received several awards and won several billiards tournaments and championships throughout the country.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Rosie Perez and is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cecilia Reyna Perez; sister Rosemary Quintanilla; son Henry Manuel Perez; daughter Sylvia Montgomery; daughter-in-law Christine Young Perez; son-in-law Tim Montgomery; grandson Christian Santonastaso; granddaughters, Hannah Perez, Reagan Montgomery, and Kristen Montgomery; niece, Erika Quintanilla Sage; nephew, Jaime Quintanilla
The family will receive guests at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 5th 2017 at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home on Thursday, July 6th, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate an 11:30 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1321 El Paso St., San Antonio, Texas 78207.
Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m.
