Henry Garza Ortiz, born to Raul V. Ortiz and Elena G. Meza on July 16, 1933, entered eternal rest on March 19, 2014 at the age of 80. Henry was a graduate of Brackenridge High School at the age16 and later enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a faithful volunteer at Audie Murphy hospital for 27 years and over 6,000 hours. He was a life member of VFW Post 9186 and Cooties Post 8936, and member of St. Vincent De Paul and St. Henry Catholic Church. He was a devout husband, father and grandfather, and enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren, fishing, firing his weapons and being in his garden. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter; Patricia M. Cox. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Maria L. Ortiz (Mary Lou); children: Marina Montez (Jesus), Raul T. Ortiz, Particia O. Valentin (Luciano), Diana O. Bautista (Luis Sr.), Rachel Ortiz, JoAnn O. Calderon; Siblings: Maria Oliva, Irene C. Ortiz, Richard C. Ortiz (Diana); 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will be receiving guests at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014 for a 9:15 a.m. Mass at St. Henry Catholic Church.
